Last year I had 2 surgeries for acromegaly. Last surgery was done by Dr. Jho and seemed curative. My IGF-1 level went down to 260 and GH level during glucose suppression test went down as low as 0.3. 6 month ago I participated in acromegaly research in Columbia university. I got letter from Dr. Freda with results. Here it is:

IGF-I: 395 ng/ml (normal 115-307)
Glucose tolerance test for growth hormone suppression:
Time Growth Hormone
0             0.86 ng/ml
60 mins. 0.49 ng/ml
90 mins. 0.46 ng/ml
120 mins. 0.46 ng/ml
The results of your testing indicate that your IGF-I level is a bit above normal. Your GH level was also slightly higher than normal. Most people in remission from acromegaly will have a GH less than 0.3 ng/ml with our GH assay. Your testing overall therefore is suspicious for early recurrence of acromegaly.

I had IGF-1 test repeated in June in Cleveland Clinic, IGF-1 was 280 (normal 115-350). In August I had my results rechecked in Columbia and I also participated in research at Mass General. IGF-1 at Columbia: 402 (normal 115-307). IGF-1 at Mass General was 300 (reference range 114-492). Week ago I had IGF-1 measured at Cleveland Clinic, IGF-1 was 330 (normal 115-350).
My endocrinologist told me that I have active acromegaly. He mentioned he noticed some abnormalities on MRI. He told me that in order to verify it 100 % he wants to start me on sandostatin LAR. Endocrinologist told that if my IGF-1 will respond to medication it  will prove that I have an active acromegaly.
Any opinions about it?
