Greetings to All. Great board; Kudos to the Mods. I was diagnosed with
Sheehan's 29 years ago about 6 months after the birth of my son. This was a
complete infarction (destruction) of the Anterior Pituitary, so no function of
any of those hormones. That meant a complete replacement of the Cortisol,
Thyroid, Estrogens, etc. In all truth, I do really well. I'm on 20 mgs of
Cortef AM, 10 PM...50 mgs of Synthroid three days a week, 75 Synthroid four
days a week, light Evista, light Lipator. I've had wonderful doctors that
are conservative yet very skilled at Eno topics as well as general medicine. I
take my meds AM on an empty stomach, wait thirty minutes for the Cortef to hit
my system and then I have about 6-7 hours of stamina. Then PM Cortef and I have
about 3 more hours of stamina before I go into 'relax' mode. For some reason,
the thyroid dose and the cortisol dose go together well, and I stay at a sound
weight, eat good foods, and exercise during work things mostly all right. The
extreme heat is tough, so I really pace myself at such summer times. No kissing
babies or toddlers much for me, given those little precious germs can get me
really sick and I'm down for a week or so. Needless to say, over the years
I've learned a huge amount about the Pituitary as well as the affected glands
such as Thyroid and Adrenals etc. If I can be of any help I will be for
sure. This is a wonderful team of folks giving aid to others in a very
complicated subject. Take care out there!
