There are no stupid questions except for the one not asked! How is your son 
doing without his gland? They maybe looking to make sure there is no residual 
growth or tumor tissue left. They may also be looking at structure and just 
making sure there nothing else going on. I would not be concerned but would 
follow through with the MRI. You can always call the doctors office and pose 
your question too. I think it sounds great that they are taking a look see.
