----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: taranallan Message 3 in Discussion Hi Minnie, Thank you for responding. Saw neurosurgeon on Friday. He wants to do another MRI in 3 months & then go from there. He thinks its a craniopharyngioma. He said they are known to grow back & hard to get rid of. I am still thinking about getting a 2nd opinion on this. With my history, we know that these things can just take off. Its done that in the past. I do not want more surgery, don't get me wrong, but at the same time, the fact that this thing has returned as soon as it did (less than a year after the craniotomy), might need to consider radiation. He also said that he definitely feels that my dizzy spells, low blood pressure, etc is endocrine related. He feels that I have some pituitary/adrenal insufficiencies going on & thats why I feel so crappy. He talked with the endocrinologist in depth about my case before he saw me on Friday. He said its just a matter of time of figuring out what levels are low & getting me on meds to correct it. He handed me a copy of my records that the endo had faxed to him. A lot of my levels (prolactin, cortisol) were only .3 away from being below normal. My FSH was only 12. I am currently going through surgically induced menapause. Shouldn't it have been much higher? My cholesterol is high. As were my thyroid levels (they had increased my Synthroid back in February to see if that will help my heart....now I am hyperthryoid). My growth hormone levels are still low. IGF-1 is 116. Still waiting on the blood test results from last week. Should I be concerned? Saturday, my heart rate dropped down into the 40's & I had severe chest pain that last several hours because of it. It hasn't gone above 60. Been having a bad headache since last week also that I cannot seem to be able to get rid of. Haven't gone to the ER nor called the dr. Don't want to bother them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.
