----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Indygirl_panhypopit Message 5 in Discussion .....despite what many specialists think, the body IS a system!!! I don't think it's unrealistic to think there's a connection. I am also pan-hypopituitary. There HAS to be a reason someone's pit gland stops working. For me, we could eliminate: pregnancy, head trauma, previous surgery....... ...so I went through allot of testing to look for things such as sarcoidosis, TB, histoplasmosis, etc. There is also a possibility of an auto-immune disease that has been recorded in about 320 patients. Unfortunately the blood test for pit anti-bodies was almost 80% wrong in every case where they did a biopsy of the pit gland or tumor growing on it. I am scheduled to see an immunologist in a month because I already have Hashimoto's thryoditis, and want to see if there's a "bigger" picture health problem going on. I am also scheduled for pit surgery at MD Anderson, with Dr Ian McCutcheon in the middle of October. They can see what looks to be "lesions" on my pit gland. They say it's not likely to restore pit function, but it will tell me what caused this to happen. Are you on hormone replacement for everything you're deficient in? Are you being monitored well by an endo? I say that because low thyroid can cause some of the symptoms you're describing. It's important for the doc to test your TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 in order to get a clear picture. What about growth hormone? Do you take that? Keep plugging ahead for answers. You know your body better than anyone else so don't doubt what you're experiencing. :) Gina ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/PituitaryChat/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
