Laura: I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's side effects = (. Perhaps you
can help her find a doctor who will listen to her concerns a little more
intently. When's the last time she had her heart checked? I have also
experienced a more "noticable" heart beat (not necessarily racing, but I can
actually feel/hear it beating harder) and get occassional shakiness. I worry
about it too as my brother had heart valve replacement a couple years back
(heart problems run in my family). (I'm age 42, by the way.) As soon as I
get health insurance again, I plan on having my heart checked, just to be on
the safe side. Last time I went to the doctor, I talked with him about the
articles I read concerning Dostinex and heart valve problems. He asked me if I
wanted to have an EKG done, and at that time I declined because it was before I
started experiencing the "noticable" heart beat. Only thing is, I'm trying to
remember whether it occurred after switching from Dostinex to the generic
Cabergoline or not (seems to me it was around the same time... but my memory
with what happened when is not the greatest). Lately, due to the bad headaches
I get on the generic, I've been alternating between the two (had to order the
Dostinex from overseas as you can't get it currently in the US). The generic
seems to wear off a few days quicker than the Dostinex for me. (I can tell
because of the headaches I get behind my right eye.) I'm also overdue for
blood tests and an MRI. Anyway, perhaps your mom can bring a copy of these
articles to her family doctor to let him know her concerns, what she's been
experiencing and that she'd like to have her heart checked to be on the safe
side. <hugs! to you and your mom> Azzule
