Anyone have trouble thinking positively about the future? This isn’t a typical
depression -- I do manage to get through each day just fine. My
non-functioning tumor is only causing minor symptoms right now, and it’s too
small for doctors to recommend removal. I still work, still take care of my
kids – only the innermost in my circle even know that I have this tumor.

But, I find myself unable to think positively about the future. We had planned
on building an addition to our house…but now I think it’s pointless. We were
thinking about a major family vacation in ’09, but I just can’t get excited
about it. While I can enjoy each day, I am just convinced that the future will
be dark. This tumor will most certainly start to cause problems. My health
will deteriorate. And, if the tumor doesn’t lead to problems, my
radiation-attacked body (CAT scans from a car accident 15 years ago, along with
initial CAT scans done for this issue) will start throwing out cancer cells.

I do believe in the live-for-today philosophy…and I really do make the best out
of each healthy day I’m given. But, it would be nice to also look to the
future with a bit of excitement. Anyone else struggle with similar thoughts?
