Is it common among pituitary patients to become tender and emotional? I'm a guy

who never felt this type of compassion. I tell people that recently I even cry

at detergent commercials! I know that tumors affect the way our brains react,

both cognitively and emotionally. I just wonder if these tears are related to
my

macro prolactinoma, to my family history, or to other health issues. A friend

reminded me that heart patients frequently have changed emotional behaviors,

after a cardiac problem is corrected. I've heard of stoic, unemotional men who

suddenly become softies, who begin telling their familiy how much they love

them. Maybe this is related to high blood pressure that many of us suffer from,

a symptom of our tumors. (I'm also being treated for blood clotting and

cholesterol issues.) It's not that I cry at the drop of a hat. It does take
a

stimulus -- maybe watching the news, a sad story, song, or sermon -- for me to

begin to weep. I suppose it might be unnerving to people to see a man cry in

public: so what? I'm not embarassed. In fact, it feels kind of good to be able

to cry. I had "blamed" my brotherly love on my return to the church two years

ago, before my tumor diagnosis. But now I'm not so sure. It could be tumor, or

it could be genetic. My sister's choir was singing at the funeral of a man she

never met. Because the family was weeping, she cried all through the service!

Odd family, huh? From the message boards, I see that many of you are affected

by depression, anger and wide swings of negative emotions. Are any of you

becoming unusually soft-hearted and compassionate? Should we expect our
positive

emotions to be supercharged? Willard in Alabama
