Hello there- I am 22 years old. I have many medical conditions but the newest

one is a prolactinoma. From June 2004 until Dec 2005 I suffered from missing

periods, extreme wieght gain ( 60+ pounds in 7 mos.), dark red/purple stretch

marks, and fatigue. My doctor never checked me for anything becuase he had an

excuse for everything I was experiencing. In Jan 2006- I met with another

doctor and she told me to get my blood tested. She had my prolactin levels

checked and that is when I first found out I had a pituitary tumor. I am unsure

of it's size ( I never thought to ask.) I began seeing an Endocrinologist who

prescribed me Bromocriptine (2.5 mg) that I would take daily to regulate my

periods, decrease milk production, and shrink the tumor. I was on the

medicaation until I lost medical coverage ( in May 2007). As soon as I ran out

of the medication I began skipping periods and increased my milk production.

It took me until Jan 2008 to get insurance and a new doctor. I met with a new

Endocrinologist and explained my situation. She prescribed the Bromocriptine

again and I asked to be tested for Cushings ( my family doctor tested me first

with a cortisol level of 8.8- then sent me to the Endo). I was tested by taking

the dexa- medication the night before. The doctor called me on Thursday and
said

that it turned out good ( which I am taking as I don't have it). I have been

experiencing anxiety issues more severe than before and I never knew that it

could be from this condition. If anyone has more information for me, I would

greatly appreciate it. Thank you, engagedsenior
