I am an ex-partial, baldy from Sandostatin. I also was not getting good control
of my IGF-1 and was having difficulty with hypoglycemia. I am on somavert which
is managing my IGF-1 well. Has your endo discussed somavert? The disadvantage
of somavert is that it acts at the liver level therefore it has no direct
effect on the tumor whereas sandostatin can actually cause tumor shrinkage.
The hair loss from sandostatin is temporary. As described by my endo,
sandostatin puts the hair follicles to sleep and they wake up when the drug is
stopped. It took almost 9 months but I now have a full head of hair.
