I have been experiencing increasing leg weakness and double vision over the
past few months, I recently saw my neuroopthamologist who prescribed prizm lens
for the double vision then hit me with the "Have you been tested for myasthenia
gravis?" question. Huh????? What else can go wrong. I saw a neurologist this
morning who thinks that there is a possibility that the neuroopthamologist is
correct. She is starting me on some MG medication to see if that helps with the
weakness (one possible side affect is diarrhea - oh, goody!). This could
explain some of the weakness, swallowing, and speech problems I have been
experiencing. MG can be related to a thymoma which is a tumor of the thymus
(another part of the endocrine system). I was reading up on MG and found
several case studies of people with MENS 1 also having MG. This never
ends!!!!!!!! This also could be related to parathyroid issues so also sorts of
fun tests are planned - EMG, spinal tap, blood test, etc.
