Hi Tricia, Sorry that I couldn't respond sooner. I had heart symptoms on Fri,
went to ER and they held me for an angiogram yesterday. All is well, but my
symptoms and different EKG alarmed them. Because of that, I could not go to my
pituitary support group in Santa Monica tonight and I am really bummed about
that. Dr. Cohan, the endo, was speaking and he is so informative. If you are
in the LA area in Sept, the next meeting is on the 16th. We would love to have
you. I do want to give you some information to check in case you don't know
about these sites. Go to sharmynmcgraw.com (www in front). Click on Hormones
411. Go down to NETC Pituitary Support Group and click. Scroll down to the
list of meetings and also down to the bottom to two videos, one about surgery
and one about hormones. She has lots of info all over the site too. The other
good site is pituitary.org (www in front). You don't have to join but I did and
received "The Pituitary Patient Resource Guide" that has everything you every
wanted to know about pituitaries. It lists the Drs they recommend all over the
country, Drs. Marshall Block, Daniel Duick, and Elena Plummer, Endos in Phoenix
and Dr. William White, Neurosurgeon also in Phoenix. This might be a good
help. Again, from what I was told, and your situation is similar to mine, that
it was not a prolactinoma but a large non secreting and should come out and
that many Drs think they are because the prolactin is raised a little. The
more you get informed and learn the better you will be able to pick a good Dr.
My GP told me that the more informed I was the higher it sets the bar for the
Drs. When I saw the Kaiser endo and surgeon I had a stack of papers and had
been to the support group and they did take notice. Sort of "the squeeky wheel
gets the grease". Good luck and I hope this helps a lot. Diana
