Aha.  I had set up [email protected] as a separate Gmail "account"
and subscribed from that account, but I now see that Gmail still sets
the Sender and Return-Path email headers to [email protected] (even
though the From is [email protected]), meaning I subscribed under
the wrong address.  I've fixed the situation now.
