I tried the one you gave me:- https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/cairo/cairo
- but I've just added ".git" on the end and it's working now!
So I tried the same thing with pixman and that's okay too now...
FWIW this is the URL shown on the pixman web site:-
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/pixman/
and that one gives me the same error that I first reported.
