Hi, I'm the maintainer of Pixman in MacPorts and I'm trying to figure out how I
should handle the 0.43.0 release. I see that the source archive is available
for download from https://www.cairographics.org/releases/ however there is also
a file LATEST-pixman-0.42.2 in that directory making me uncertain whether the
latest stable release is 0.42.2 or 0.43.0. Also, Pixman previously followed the
old GNOME version numbering scheme wherein the middle number of the version
number indicates whether the release is stable (even) or a snapshot (odd). Has
Pixman abandoned that versioning scheme now, as GNOME has? I didn't find any
announcement to that effect on this list or on the Pixman web page.

The ChangeLog and NEWS files in the source archive which I would have expected
to tell me about any change in version numbering policy, or any other
significant changes in a new version, are sadly empty. In the absence of these
resources I looked briefly at the commit log but didn't see anything
specifically about a change in version numbering. I did notice that you dropped
the autotools build system, which is a major change for anyone who had been
using the autotools build system, and well worth mentioning in a NEWS file.
