Yes - the problem is that the unrar license isn't compatible with the
GPL, so we can't ship linked objects that result from codebases under
the two licenses, as I understand it.

No, I don't think so.  I'm also planning to see what needs to be done to
build the unrar stuff out of tree and see if I can get upstream to take
the patch.  I'm batting fairly low recently, but it's worth a shot.
