It's not related to LLVM 3.5: I tested building in jessie/powerpc, which
still has LLVM 3.4.2, and the failure is the same.
I reported this regression upstream in Bug 11147 (and forwarded the
patches for LLVM 3.5 in Bug 11146).
If you like, I can add you to the CC list of (one or both of) these bugs.
Hopefully someone from upstream can give a clue about what's wrong on
powerpc.
