Package: cyrus21-common
Version: 2.1.16-10
Severity: normal

Hello,

The sieve daemon doesn't report SASL PLAIN, therefor sieveshell doesn't
work:

[ginger:~]$ telnet localhost 2000
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
"IMPLEMENTATION" "Cyrus timsieved v2.1.16-IPv6-Debian-2.1.16-10"
"SIEVE" "fileinto reject envelope vacation imapflags notify subaddress
relational regex"
OK

[ginger:~]$ sieveshell localhost
connecting to localhost
unable to connect to server at /usr/bin/sieveshell line 174.

Oct 4 01:48:18 ginger perl: No worthy mechs found

I believe I have everything set up as it should be for this to work.
Authentication for cyradm, IMAP and POP works fine.

allowplaintext: yes
sasl_mech_list: PLAIN
sasl_minimum_layer: 0

I've found similar reports on Google, but they all seem to point to
including the above lines as the solution...

Regards,

Ruud de Rooij

This bug has been reported against an ancient version of cyrus
(cyrus-2.1) that is no longer supported. It is assumed to be fixed (or
no longer relevant) in newer releases and therefore I'm closing this
report now. If the problem is still reproducible in the current version
(cyrus-2.4), feel free to provide more information, reopen and reassign
this bug report to a current package.

Andreas
