Package: devscripts
Version: 2.10.19
Severity: wishlist
File: /usr/bin/uscan

As other bug reports suggest (433408) there is an issue with sf.net
redirector. Workaround mentioned in man helps to make uscan --report to
work but doesn't help to keep workflow automated since it is impossible
to download those damn tarballs from upload.sourceforge.net. Imho the
best solution would be to work out some agreement with sf.net guys so we
don't need to twist our heads on how to keep uscan working.

I have posted a question on sf's forum
http://sourceforge.net/community/forum/topic.php?id=1827&page&replies=1

Back to this bugreport:

In my case I am relying on sf.net only as a measure to tell what is the
most recent release. My watch line is
opts=pasv ftp://upload.sourceforge.net/pub/sourceforge/m/md/mdp-toolkit/ \
   MDP-([\d\.]+)\.tar\.gz debian dh_wraporig

and dh_wraporig (tool not yet in any Debian package but used in quite a
few and announced on the mailing list) fetches sources from trunk of SVN
repository (and due to split nature from another trunk as well). Full
log of actions is within README.Debian-source
http://git.onerussian.com/?p=mdp;a=blob_plain;f=debian/README.Debian-source;hb=HEAD

uscan has --report and --no-download which do the same thing -- report.
Imho --no-download should perform all the actions (ie call specified
command with not actually download file) but actually download the file.
And there should be a way to specify that within debian/watch

I know that it sounds somewhat particular for my use case, but
objectively --report and --no-download have different meaning if read in
plain English ;-), thus should do what they say ;-)

Cheers
