Package: devscripts
Version: 2.10.23
Severity: normal
I see that most Suggests: got promoted to Recommends:. I understand and
support the move in general. But devscripts-el has also been promoted and
I don't see what part of devscripts relies on devscripts-el to be
available.
I understand it the other way, it provides nice helper tools for people
who use emacs and devscripts. Thus it's not required for devscripts to
work and Recommends is inappropriate... in particular when the
installation of devscripts-el means installation of "emacs22" for a
non-emacs user. Those people do aptitude install devscripts-el and get
devscripts installed together...
Please drop devscripts-el back to Suggests:.
Also in the alternative for VCS, you might want to put subversion first as
it's the most popular VCS used on Alioth right now. So people without any
VCS, would get svn installed by default and would have access to the
biggest set of source repositories.
