Hello, I still find the argument presented by Julian in #241939 unconvincing.
Please figure out a one Debian standard way to collect all such configuration information in one configuration file for all affected Debian (maintenance) packages that Julian was talking about. The perceived benefit is that I can have a "clean" environment in whatever fashion I like for my normal operations, and a collection of settings that pertain to my role as a DD which are used uniformly across all Debian stuff. I take the number of duplicate bugs to indicate that there is demand for such a feature, but you guys know much better than us what would be involved to bring such a change about (eg. coordinating with those other maintainers of Debian infrastructure packages).
