Hey,
when doing a dch --security, the generated version uses the NMU scheme
(so -x.y) even when the usual security scheme is x+<release>y. I'm not
sure it's always possible to detect the release it should use
(especially since it's not the same as the distribution passed in -D,
which is {old,}stable-security), but in case the previous upload was
also a security issue, it could just increment the y part.
