The latter part of this is perhaps even more compelling than my
complaint: I can't think of a Solaris utility that is designed like
pkg currently is in this respect, including many that are also "SVO" 

(I'm not sure I'd even be complaining if 'pkg' weren't already a zillion
times better than the old tools BTW)
