I didn't check the archive of this email list, hope this is not a FAQ.
I read it somewhere in the IPS docs, the post/pre-install scripts are
discouraged.
So what is the alternative way to achieve same goal in IPS ?
In my current SVR4 hobbit client packages I have scripts doing followings
hobbit client preinstall shell script
1. will detect if there is a hobbitc account created already.
2. if not create hobbitc local account in /etc/passwd, hobbitc group in
/etc/group.
hobbit client post-remove script will
1. upon remove of hobbit-client delete hobbitc account/group info.
