Because people can get kind of snippy when they add new hardware and it
doesn't work immediately.  Solaris may have that problem regardless, but --
particularly for a live CD or an initial installation -- it's a good
initial guess and doesn't take a up a whole lot of space.

If you want something more tailored to your system, go bug the caiman
people.

Those are both installer issues, and not someting to do with the packaging
system.  install-discuss would be the place to start.
