The GRUB still does not show up, but I can operate in blind. :-) However, when something shows up , it is meshed vertically and then restored to normal after a while showing the kernel version. The upgrade seems to be successful although it failed to activate the new BE. I manually did update_grub as described here[1], and booted into nv91 and have the nVidia problem on my Tecra M2 as Gilles Gravier reported[2].
