So you can track the ips mercurial repository (see the IPS web page for
details: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/pkg/).  That lists details on
retrieving the repo; there is more information on the developer information
page linked off the main page.  Once you have the source tree you can build it
and install it.

After you retrieve the code base you can apply the patches that come through
on the mailing list manually, but there isn't really a central location that
keeps track of uncommitted patches that I know of at this point.  Once they
are committed you can just update your source tree and make install again.
