pkgparam is used to find various package parameters.
Yes, I know that. What parameters are you trying to get, specifically.
What is your goal in getting these parameters?
I ll mainly be needing the BASEDIR of a package. Sometimes even their
INSTDATE.
I not sure if this is the right forum to raise this issue. I want to
know if going forward, is there is any plan to port all sun application
to PKG(5) format so they can be installed in opensolaris too?
Anyways we can still grep it from pkg info.
I'd just as soon you didn't -- it's not intended to be a programmatic
interface. If we need to provide an interface that isn't there yet, I'd
like to know the scope of what you're trying to do.
So what we see as two different package installation is actually one. Nice
idea to make it backward compatible. However why do they different version
numbers for the IPS and SVR4 packaging if they are only one installation?
The version number spaces are different. pkg(5) needs to be able to define
a new space, and SVr4 package versions should stay the same.
