Hello,

I'm using IPS to manage software packages for our information system.
When I started evaluating IPS, it was possible to easily downgrade a
package to a previous version. This functionality has been
removed/disabled. Only thing I found about this problem was an old bug
report without any comments:
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=2610. What are your
design principles regarding package downgrades? How should one install a
previous version of a package?

I tried to uninstall the package to be able to reinstall an older
version, but I was not able to, because of the dependencies. Shouldn't
there be a force option to ignore dependencies?

I'm not able to use zfs snapshots either, since I use IPS in Solaris 10
non-global zones.

Any suggestions?

Rein
