Hi,
I hope this is the correct place for asking...
Recently I've set up a test server running OpenSolaris 2008.11. Internet
access is possible only by using a proxy which sometime has its problems.
If the proxy is caching the depot server, you will likely have issues.
You should try asking the proxy administrator add pkg.opensolaris.org to
a list of hosts to not cache if they can.
Eclipse or OpenOffice for example cannot be installed via the package
manager GUI: The download always hangs after having fetched a few
megabyte, then finally aborts with a message saying that the repository
cannot be accessed and that I should check my network settings. When
trying again, the download starts from the beginning and mostly stops at
another position. I've seen the same behaviour also on smaller packages
such as SUNWj6rt or SUNWgnu-idn.
The download shouldn't actually be starting at the beginning since we
download individual files that make up a package. You should be able to
continue retrying.
Is it possible to fully download the packages in question from another
machine not running OpenSolaris? If yes, how can this be done?
Not at this time.
Cheers,
