Edit /rpool/boot/grub/menu.lst and remove the following lines from the current BE:

Also delete
  ,console=graphics
from the kernel$ line

After that, all BEs created from the current one will be 'text boot'

thx, Antonello,

I was specifically NOT looking for the 'edit menu.lst' method ;-) ... but since you mention it, a follow-on question:

if I *add* a text boot entry to the graphical boot entry, will subsequent image-updates create two entries or again just one?
I don't know. I was talking out of personal experience. You could try and let us all know :-)

Having played with fresh installation of OpenSolaris followed by 'pkg image-update' on several boxes recently, I noticed that the pattern:

osol-x
osol-x text boot

in the grub menu set by the initial installation is not followed after I update the image; the menu then looks like

osol-x
osol-x text boot
osol-(x+1)

I'm assuming this was a conscious choice ... what can I do to get a text boot option every time I update the image (yes, I know how to fiddle in the grub menu .lst file :-)?
