It's pretty common (within Sun, at least) to make announce lists opt-
out rather than opt-in... that is, if you subscribe to -discuss, you'd
be subscribed to -announce automatically, but can unsubscribe from
both separately. Don't know if mailman supports that though,
admittedly.
