I was thinking about this, but there is one problem which I don't know
how to solve in the Makefile. Basically if the tarballs are missing we
need to download them somehow, which was done in the setup.py for few
packages. Any idea what would be the best way of doing that?
Run "wget" in the Makefile?
Another solution might be to checkin the archives for our dependencies
into our mercurial workspace. This would eliminate the need to do the
hash checking that was just put in, because we would know that we have
the right versions, and it would also eliminate the load that we put on
the download sites for these dependencies every time we do a clean
build. (Their adoption numbers might go down though :-)) Some people
might have an aversion to checking binaries into mercurial too.
