Hi guys I got a good question asked on a presentation of OpenSolaris, namely:
If you uninstall a package using IPS pkg command, will also its dependencies, that it installed, be uninstalled , when they are no longer used by any other packages?
I guess the guy ment if we have something like deborphan ( http://packages.debian.org/lenny/deborphan , http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/134 ), which in debian is integrated inside apt which then cleans up unneeded packages automagically afaik.
I tried it with e.g. virtualbox package from extra repos ... it depends on virtualbox-kernel ... BUT when you uninstall virtualbox, virtualbox-kernel STILL stays on your system, even though no other packages need it and it can be removed ...
so if you got any ideas or can point me to some info about this matter, please do so
