Matthias,
([1][email protected] alias added; maybe some others
   should be trimmed?)
The IPS team has plans to have plans for an on-disk package format
which would lead to capability of repo on local plastic.
[2][email protected] from the Caiman project has the same
no-network-connection requirement that you've stated. You could search
the list archive for posts from her under several different subject
headings as she tries to work around this.
I suggest querying [3][email protected] for the question of
whether anything of your credentials would linger elsewhere than in
   their original subdir.

Peter,

no, no, no,... Way to complex...

My question is:

If I create/install a system via live-cd and add packages from
[4]https://pkg.sun.com using my keys and credentials, and if, after thost
installs, I then REMOVE my keys and credentials by "/bin/rm -rf /var/pkg/ssl",
will there still be some information left about me on that system?

That's my main question currently...

If the answer would be yes, I would start by downloading the source of
open-ha-cluster and compiling it, and then installing those bits onto the
machines...

Still curious...

Hi Matthias,

A few ways you can do it:

1. DistroConstructor, build your own distribution that would include the
OHA packages and other packages you might need.

2. Create a "offline" mirror of pkg.opensolaris.org. This is not
recommended as it does put a lot of load on the pkg.opensolaris.org server
while you are downloading packages. But if you will be without any Internet
access, that's the way you have to do it.

3. If you have a "slow"internet access you can follow the standard way of
setting up a replica, it will have the IPS packages, but it will have to go
out to pkg.opensolaris.org for metadata.

Folks,

thanks so far for all your help.

I'll try a different approach. And, please excuse my ignorance...

So, if I would put the system on the internet and yould add my keys and
credentials to /var/pkg/ssl then download and install OHAC, and after that
simply remove /var/pkg/ssl, would there be any trace of my identity on that
system/cluster? Remeber, I would like o create an HA-Appliance but without any
traces of my identity in/on it...

Would that approach be working?

My ignorance comes from that fact, that I did not yet play around with
OpenSolaris and the new package manager...

Curious,
        Matthias

Jens,

that's only part of the answer, and sadly not, what I need... ;-)

Assume I additionally want to make that lab environment available as a
VirtualBox Appliance. So, I do not like to hand out my credentials... ;-) And
Keys...

So, it seems, there's no easy way to create more complex appliances out of
OpenSolaris... ;-(

Sad... ;-(

Hi Matthias,

Open High Availability Cluster packages are available at:
[5]https://pkg.sun.com/

Access to the Open HA Cluster 2009.06 software repository.
All registered users have access to this product.
[6]https://pkg.sun.com/opensolaris/ha-cluster/

But you need to build your own user-certificate...

Folks,

        [7]http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/ha-clusters/ohac/

and especially:

        [8]http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-7821

do not answer my question:

I want to setup a OpenSolaris 2009.06 based Open HA Cluster in a secluded
environment, that has NO connection to the outside world, aka in a lab
environment. Installing OS09.06 is easy, as there is a live CD.

But, how do I get OHAC onto the machines later on? I could most possibly try
to BUILD it from source, but I guess, there's a more easy way to achieve it,
isn't it?

So, any hints, tips, et.al. highly appreciated

Thanks,
        Matthias
