The next implementation of rename will not use the current rename code, but will work just fine by extending the "dependency" part of the v1 catalog. There's no need to update the catalog proposal to include rename; that'll be part of the final rename spec. Shawn, if removing the current rename code is trivial, feel free to remove it, but if it's going to have any impact on catalog v1 or getting the repo on a stick scripts into the gate, then please don't spend any time on it. It'll come out as part of the obsolete wad.
