We have noticed this.
I need to investigate it. It may be related to the problem Niall Power
reported on the list last week. ([pkg-discuss] IPS GUI produces 515
deadlocked threads)

So, I've applied this to my local workspace for the catalog v1 work.
First, let me say that with this patch + the catalog v1 stuff, the
description loading and scrolling are now great. The best it's ever
been on my system. It's quite amusing to scroll through the list and
pause for a second and see all of the visible packages have a
description pop in all at once ;)
One bit of odd behaviour that I can't yet figure out is that when I
click a specific package in the list, the General tab shows a message
of "Fetching information..." but it never shows anything.
Any ideas on how I can track that down?
