Indeed, I did not realize that I need to do 'beadm create + beadm mount'
before BFU-ing my Test machine. Wrongly I was under impression
that BFU is some kind of special trick used by developers
which does not need special BE creation for itself.

looks to me like you didn't target bfu quite right.
You've got the initial "opensolaris" BE from the initial install.
You've got the "opensolaris-5" BE from your image-update to 125.
You then bfu'd _on top of opensolaris-5_ rather than
beadm create testbe
beadm mount testbe /mnt
bfu /path/to/archives /mnt
acr /mnt
beadm umount testbe
beadm activate testbe
I think you'll need to re-activate your original BE "opensolaris"
then image-update, then follow the steps I mention above.
