It was brought up privately that "solaris" is a trademark which might not
be appropriate for developers of non-Sun distributions. I agree, but
wouldn't expect anyone but Sun to publish such a package -- Nexenta would

So OpenSolaris 2010.03 should probably use "opensolaris" then not
"solaris" as it isn't the Solaris(TM) product.
Indeed, this might be one way to distinguish flavors of OpenSolaris without
parsing /etc/release (which itself could probably be removed and replaced
with metadata from the distribution incorporation).
Interesting idea.
