After prompt from Danek I installed
SUNWpython-ply and
SUNWpython-pycurl from the gate and pkg worked for me.
To get the GUI to work I also needed to install
SUNWgnome-python26-extras.
This package was needed for gtkhtml2.
Thanks Padraig. So can I take it you're okay with the changes
in the webrev for packagemanager & updatemanager for
Python 2.6?
