From a quick look, this might be a bug in gen_os_files.py not handling
the $(i386_ONLY) and $(SPARC_ONLY) tags correctly. I'll investigate
further.
The problem here is that the SUNWrmod and SUNWsdcard packages should
be present when viewed with package manager on an i386 system, but not
when viewed on SPARC. Therefore, if we persist in using the
"opensolaris.org"
static file approach, then there should really be two versions of this
file; one
for each architecture.
This is no longer an issue for 2010.03. The new List API automatically
omits packages not for the current image from listings.
GUI folks; are you likely to be fixing this problem for 2010.03 by
generating
this data dynamically from the packages in the repository (bug #8189)?
If so,
then that would be by far the better solution.
My understanding is yes, the webrev padraig sent out resolves this. You
would have to clarify with John/Padraig as I'm still not clear exactly
how it will work:
