I've just done a fresh install of 144 and they are there as well. Can I
just delete them, or is the rot more extensive? Should I install 143
instead? I can't use 145 because non-US keyboards are broken.
I did a fresh install of 142 on sparc and then upgraded to 143 and 144
and even 145 without having encounted this problem
so using 142 as a base and then pkg-image update appears to be fine
from my own experience on sparc.
though I run into this only on sparc with 144:
