I was trying to update my system to some ON bits I had compiled, and I
finally ended up in the following situation.
Using @latest gives me an error:
# pkg -R /mnt update '*@latest'
Creating Plan /
pkg update: No matching version of service/management/sysidtool can be
installed:
Reject:
pkg://solaris/service/management/[email protected],5.11-0.162:20110326T053934Z
Reason: Excluded by proposed incorporation
'consolidation/admin/admin-incorporation'
But when I call out specific versions, everything works:
# pkg -R /mnt update -n [email protected],5.11-0.165

Services to restart: 11
(or seems to, I haven't checked all 739 packages)

As far as I can tell @latest should be equivalent to each of the
versions I've listed, but it doesn't seem to be working that way.
This was done using gate bits:
# pkg version
3bf0122fdf7f
Thanks,
Brock
