Hi there,
the current way how we deal with removed publishers is less then ideal
and I hope it can be improved.
right now, when a publisher is removed, the installed packages
corresponding
to this publisher are left installed and dangling around fodder for
future
pkg operation malfunctions, eg. you can not remove packages:
batschul@osoldev:~# pkg uninstall pkg://osol-contrib/gedit-plugins
Creating Plan -pkg: Unknown publisher 'opensolaris.org'.
why pkg fails to remove a package for publisher A if publisher B
does not longer exist is mystery to me.
it does not really make sense to leave packages from removed publishers
around if we know we can not deal with those packages later on
and/or fail operations because we have packages installed from removed
publishers.
leaving packages from removed publishers installed plus being unable to
properly
function with installed packages from removed publishers is definitively
the worst combination.
is there already a bug filed for it or shall I be submitting a new one ?
there's good news actually, uninstalling packages from a removed publisher
works in build 163 as opposed to failing in 160.
seems like something already changed and fixed that problem!
cheers
