Did you see that
7055857 dbus packaging needs to lose X11 dependency ASAP
got marked Fix Failed? There wasn't any explanation of that in the bug
update, so I don't know whether it affects your change, but since you're
introducing dbus/dbus-x11 into redistributable, then it should be
investigated.
I did verify that from my testing that the fix seems correct - in fact,
I believe it's the reason the X11 is now gone from the AI client
image.
Why do the VP packages now have locale subpackages? Shouldn't they be part
of the actual packages, like we're moving to everywhere else?
I wasn't aware beforehand of these packages coming in but I'll check
with the VP folks to see what their plan is.
Are wireless drivers really something that people would want on a "large
server"?
I wanted to align the networking drivers across all of the group/system
packages so that one had full support of all possible networking
devices in order to access any non-file repositories. As it is, they're
fairly small so the actual image footprint is fairly small.
Couldn't the various group packages be defined in terms of each other, with
selected drop transforms as necessary? That would seem easier to maintain
than having to update four or five manifests with essentially the same
changes every build.
Yes they could and that's definitely a possibility for an upcoming
build. What we really need are some higher-level group packages
(Gary's working on one for the drivers, for example) which will also
simplify these other group packages.
Also, some of this churn is definitely due to the nature of the
refactoring taking place in these builds. In general, I would expect
less change spread across so many manifests.
Thanks for the review. Are you satisfied with my explanations above?
