You have to boot the media and then manually apply the ITU.
Customers will generally get more consistently positive results creating
custom media with Distribution Constructor if they have more than a couple
such machines to deploy; the couple of hours it takes to generate such a
thing pays back pretty quickly. We've been providing that message since
day 1 of the OpenSolaris releases.
And guess what, we've been up against the fact that we
haven't released Solaris 11 yet. I have been on many
concalls with an IHV operating in my area of expertise
who flat out refused to do any development on OpenSolaris
for exactly that reason.
In some cases we were pushing it up hill to get them to
continue to develop for our platform at all. For me, that
was the primary driver for getting the itu tools integrated,
and getting the IHV into the tent.
Now that we're at the pointy end, I think (hope) that the
resistance to using the much better technology in IPS/DC/AI
will be less.
