but apparently they do not quite work as advertised:

root@osoldev:~# env|grep PKG
PKG_CLIENT_MAX_CONSECUTIVE_ERROR=0
PKG_CLIENT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=300
PKG_CLIENT_LOWSPEED_TIMEOUT=0

root@osoldev:~# pkg update -v --accept
pkg: 2/4 catalogs successfully updated:

Framework stall:
URL:
'http://ipkg.us.oracle.com/internal/solaris11/internal-only/versions/0/'

Framework stall:
URL: 'http://ipkg.us.oracle.com/opensolaris/extra/versions/0/'

after also setting PKG_CLIENT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=0
it gets going for some time...

the real cool thing to report was that it re-used the already downloaded
400MB from belows 1st attempt out of the cache and was not trying to
get them again from OTW, awesome !

but then again I bomb out:

nevermind, I found them in the pkg(5) man page:

      PKG_CLIENT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT

          Seconds to wait trying to connect during transport
          operations (for each attempt) before the client aborts
          the operation. A value of 0 means wait indefinitely.

          Default value: 60

      PKG_CLIENT_LOWSPEED_TIMEOUT

          Seconds below the lowspeed limit (1024 bytes/sec) during
          transport operations before the client aborts the opera-
          tion. A value of 0 means do not abort the operation.

          Default value: 30

      PKG_CLIENT_MAX_CONSECUTIVE_ERROR

So I have a relatively slow UMTS connection, trying to run pkg update today resulted for me in the following bailout, any chance or environment variables I could possibly set ? this appears to be new, btw, I've never had that in the past, first time with going from 19 to 20, in the past I always did upgraded over the same link, so something must
have changed...
