I thought I'd share the stupid code I'd written so far.

As it says in the comments,
" * Give it the name of a catalog file,and it will write to stdout.

* Initial version only extracts pkg and version number info, to stdout.
"
In other words, it takes a catalog file, and generates simple output like:
[email protected],5.11-0.133:20101027T183105Z
archiver/[email protected],5.11-0.175.0.0.0.2.537:20111019T091116Z
archiver/[email protected],5.11-0.175.0.0.0.2.537:20111019T091129Z
audio/[email protected],5.11-0.175.0.0.0.2.1:20111019T052755Z
If I dont get distracted, more things to come under the ipsutil
directory in the future.
