You are, of course, correct Shawn. Did not think of that possibility,
I have 151a on the machine. What is the best upgrade method to fix
this? I have a SunFire T2000. My x86 Sol 11 machine has an FCS
release and so I did not see this problem there.

What am I doing wrong? Below is what I get when I do a search for gcc.
In this case, I can tell from the error message that you're running a
version of Solaris 11 pre-FCS.
The error message (which has since been changed to be more specific) is
trying to tell you that it can't find a version of library/gmp that
satisfies gcc's package dependencies.
Regardless, you can't install the new gcc-45 package on a version of
Solaris 11 older than FCS.
My guess is that you're running a version of Solaris 11 Express, such as
build 151 or 157.
Cheers,
