Hi,

first of all: I am a newbee, sorry for all the inconvenience ... in advance ...

Well, do we come to the issue.
I run the new debian lenny (download and install today, march 2nd 2009) in a
VirtualBox V2.1.4 (VirtualBox runs on a Windows XP). VirtualBox is a
virtualisation software from Sun Microsystems.

Install of debian lenny as a guest of my WinXP was no Problem.
The only thing - in the moment is that the screen resolution can not be
adjusted to the resolution of my laptops screen: 1280x800
I tried to change the configuration in the X11/xorg.conf, but this was not
successful.

I read some mailing lists and the documentation of VirtualBox. I think it would
be necessary to install the virtual box "Linux Guest Additions". This is an
iso-image that is shipped with the VirtualBox. You have to mount this iso to
the Guest and can access the necessary packages...

The VirtualBox documentation says, that .... BEFORE ... installing the guest
additions, the DKMS package has to be installed FIRST.
They say you should use:
sudo apt-get install dkms

but the package ist not available. I read your hints on
http://pkg-dkms.alioth.debian.org/
and found the apt-get crossed and the hint:
If you feel
adventurous, just do a checkout of our debian/ directory:
svn co svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-dkms/dkms/trunk dkms
You might want to run the get-orig-source target, and
use svn-buildpackage.
svn ist not available in debian lenny - what can I do? I need some help. THank
you in advance,Cheers Jo
